Michael Pearson is an undergraduate mechanical engineering student at the University of Victoria. He grew up in rural British Columbia, where light pollution was minimal and the splendour and appeal of space was strong. He hosts a weekly astronomy open house at the university, inviting the public to use the largest teaching telescope in Canada to observe the skies. In addition to this and other extracurricular projects, he is the mechanical lead of the university's autonomous submarine design team (AUVic) as well as a project lead for the university's UAV team (UVic AERO). Upon graduating, he plans to work in the private space sector to aid in humanity’s expansion into the solar system. In his limited free time, he enjoys hiking, motor sports and movie-making.
Simon Moffatt is currently studying mechanical engineering at the University of Victoria, in Victoria, Canada. His passion for engineering and design has lead him to pursue projects outside of the standard engineering curriculum. Simon is the president of the university's autonomous aircraft team (UVic AERO), having co-designed and built two of the team's competition planes. Additionally he is the mechanical lead on the university's satellite design team (ECOsat-2), and has sixteen months of internship experience in the aerospace industry, primarily in research. Extremely interested in aerospace research and development, Simon intends to pursue graduate studies in astronautical engineering followed by a career in the space industry. When he isn't studying or working on a project, you will likely find him sailing, playing squash, taking photographs, or daydreaming about leaving earth's atmosphere as a nice, quiet vacation.
Harry Evans is an undergraduate mechanical engineering student at the University of Victoria. An avid pilot, he is currently building his own prototype airplane from the gear up. He is a project lead for the university’s UAV team (UVic AERO) and has worked for a number of aerospace companies as a UAV test pilot. Harry is a practiced photographer, skilled RC pilot, and dabbles in high powered rocketry. Upon graduating, Harry plans on starting his own aerospace company and breaking some FAI world record.
